Fatal Inertia ready to land on PlayStation 3

Koei Corp., a Japanese video game publisher and developer, this week announced that it will release Fatal Inertia EX, a PSN revamp of the 2007 Xbox 360 racing title, exclusively to Sony Corp.'s PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 in late May.
Fatal Inertia is a futuristic hovercar racing game that was initially presumed to have been secured by Sony as a PlayStation 3 exclusive but the Japanese video game publisher and developer Koei released it for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 in Sept. 2007.
Koei, better known as the premier brand of strategy and simulation games, now said the racing game is only going to be released on PS3 via the PlayStation network.
“We’re really excited about what we’ve accomplished with Fatal Inertia EX,” said Mike Bond, lead game designer for Fatal Inertia EX. “Gamers will be amazed by all of the improvements we’ve made. Fatal Inertia EX is a faster, more visually-captivating experience packed with new content not found in the original.”
The title will sport some exclusive content for its PlayStation 3 release, including new weather effects, scenery enhancements and overhauled racecraft customization as well as support for the new Dualshock 3 controller, which includes rumble functionality and gives the optional use of SIXAXIS motion sensing technology.
Additionally, the vehicles in Fatal Inertia EX would be faster than their Xbox 360 counterparts and would feature improved handling. The game takes place at the Fatal Inertia Proving Grounds, the mecca for aspiring flight jocks driven to prepare themselves for the mental and physical punishment of low-altitude combat maneuvering. The Proving Grounds are also home to the game’s eight new tracks.
The title includes 59 courses in seven high-definition environments, including lush rainforests, massive glacier fields and canyons of razor-sharp rock, split-screen two-player races, online racing and LAN racing for up to 10 players.
Fatal Inertia EX is awarded with “E10+” (Everyone 10 and older - Fantasy Violence) rating by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).
The game is scheduled for release on the PlayStation 3's PSN in May priced $29.99.
