Another week in gaming has gone by, and with it came an assortment of interesting tidbits of information. Some interesting information regarding Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on the DS, was revealed this week by Nintendo Power. There was also a never before seen video of the recently canceled Eight Days.
Eight Days
Eight Days is a third person shooter that was in development by Sony London Studios. However, Sony recently announced that this title was canceled per Shuhei Yoshida’s discretion. For those who don’t know Yoshida, he is Phil Harrison’s replacement as the new head of World Wide Studios. In an effort to focus on online and social gaming, a decision was made to axe Eight Days and Getaway 3.
There has been some criticism as to the reasons behind canceling Getaway 3, since the previous game went on the sell over 4 million units. However, since Eight Days was an unknown title, many people shrugged off the announcement of it’s demise.
Recently, a tech demo of the run and cover mechanics in Eight Days was leaked onto the Internet. Just looking at the tech demo, the gameplay looks impressively solid. The graphics of the character looks extremely good as well, almost ‘Uncharted’ like.

It is unfortunate such a promising game was canceled due to what some have criticized as a questionable business decision. I suppose this is all part of Sony’s strategy to take on the Wii and Xbox 360 from all sides. Let us hope this game wasn’t permanently canceled, but shelved for a future date.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
Since the announcement of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on the Nintendo DS, there has been very little information regarding this title. However, it seems all of that has changed with the latest issue of Nintendo Power. The latest issue of the magazine not only outline details about the game, but first ever screenshots were included as well.
GTA: Chinatown Wars will be cel-shaded and have an isometric view like Diablo. The game will also have a sandbox environment, with free range run and gun experience. Chinatown Wars will also take full advantage of the DS touch screen. All of the mini games and menu UI will utilize the touch screen in one form or another.
